According to a press release, a student on Southern’s Logan campus tested positive for COVID-19. Southern’s fall 2020 semester is underway using virtual teleconferencing, but several labs are open for limited student use. One of those labs was affected, and students who have been in that particular lab, or who have potentially been exposed, are being contacted, and will be asked to test for COVID-19 as a precaution.
The affected lab is being deep cleaned and will be closed for two weeks.
In a statement, Southern leaders say they are observing social distancing guidelines and will continue to do so.
