Sunday Brings Lower Infection Rates In W.Va.

West Virginia added one of its lowest daily totals of new coronavirus cases in recent weeks on Sunday while hospitalizations dropped significantly.


The state reported 697 new positive cases on the day, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. It is the lowest daily total since Dec. 26.


Hospitalizations due to the coronavirus dropped by 70 to 648. Intensive care admissions are down from 190 to 178 and the number of people on ventilators has decreased by six to 89.

Health officials reported 15 virus-related deaths for the day.


The overall positive test rate increased slightly Sunday to 5.48% while the daily positive test rate was 5.07%.
