MAN   Bo Thompson struck out 12 in Man's 3-1 win over county rival Chapmanville Monday night at William Tootie Carter Athletic Field.

Man improved to 4-1 and Chapmanville remained winless at 0-5.

Thompson allowed just one run on four hits and walked one in 6 2/3 innings.

Braxton Messer needed just four pitches to strike out the only batter he would face to record the final out and earn the save for the Hillbillies.

Man plated a run in the first when Messer's single drove home Landon Cantrell with the first run of the game and added a run in the third inning when Cam Gerace singled to score Gavin Bartram giving Man a 2-0 lead.

The Tigers got a run in the sixth when Braylon Moore singled with two outs to score Joey Canterbury with the lone run for Chapmanville.

Man answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning, on a wild pitch that allowed Brayden Compton to score.

On the mound, Corey Johnson kept Chapmanville in the game, but the Tigers couldn't figure out Thompson. Johnson allowed three runs- two earned- on seven hits, struck out nine and walked two in six innings of work.

Moore had one hit and one RBI and Drew Berry, Canterbury and Gunner Lucas each had one hit for Chapmanville.

Gerace and Messer each had two hits and one RBI for Man, who also got one hit apiece from Gavyn Cline, Noah Frazier and Thompson.

Both teams will be back in action Thursday evening. Chapmanville will host Poca while the Hillbillies entertain the Mingo Central Miners.
