LOGAN Chapmanville, Logan and Man made jumps in the week four playoffs ratings released by the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission Tuesday afternoon.

Logan (4-0, 9.00 rating), which defeated winless Poca last Friday at Willis-Nisbet Stadium, rose two spots from No. 8 to No. 6 in this weeks Class AA ratings.

Chapmanville (3-1, 7.25), who defeated Nitro, was the biggest mover in Class AA jumping six spots from No. 15 to No. 9 this week.

The Tigers were tied with Clay County (3-1) and Nicholas County (3-1) last week and those three teams remain tied for ninth in the week four ratings.

Clay County was victorious over winless Sissonville but picked up bonus points from Midland Trail and Philip Barbour to remain tied with Chapmanville and Nicholas County, who rallied from a double digit fourth quarter deficit to defeat then No. 4 Lincoln.

The Man Hillbillies (3-1, 6.75) jumped from No. 15 to No. 11 following its 28-14 victory over Class AA No. 18 Mingo Central. The loss dropped Mingo Central from the Class AA top 20.

Thirteen of the state’s 23 remaining unbeaten schools reside in Class A with six in Class AA and four in Class AAA. Three of those Class A unbeatens, Cameron (4-0, 6.50), Montcalm (4-0, 6.50) and Wirt County (4-0, 6.50) are tied for No. 12 one spot behind Man.

The Cardinal Conference continues to have a strong showing in the ratings with four schools ranked in the top nine and five teams in the top 16 of the Class AA ratings.

Scott (4-0, 9.75), who defeated Point Pleasant 21-14 last week, is ranked fifth with Logan sixth, Winfield (3-1, 7.75) eighth, Chapmanville tied for ninth and Nitro (2-2, 5.25) checking in at No. 16.

Eyes will be on the Cardinal Conference this week as Scott hosts Chapmanville and Logan travels to Winfield.
