OAK HILL Jacob Topping struck out 14 as Class AA No. 3 Chapmanville won its fourth straight game defeating Oak Hill 4-3 Saturday afternoon at Oak Hill High School.
Topping gave up two runs on three hits and walked five in six innings. Ian Plumley allowed one unearned run on one hit and one walk in one inning and was credited with the save as the Tigers improved to 9-2 on the season.
Andrew Farley had two hits and two RBIs and Talan Thompson also had two hits and drove in one run for Chapmanville.
Chapmanville scored all the runs they would need in the third inning when they crossed the plate four times to erase an early 1-0 deficit.
Owen Grose had one hit and one RBI and Connor Smith drove in a run for Oak Hill. Cole Legg had two hits and Gabe Truman one hit for the Red Devils.
Jayden McClain tossed a complete game for Oak Hill (4-8), who has lost four straight and seven of its last nine games. McClain allowed four runs - one earned - on six hits and struck out seven in seven innings.
Trey Butcher and Braylon Moore each had a single for Chapmanville, who will host Poca Monday at 6 p.m. at Ted Ellis Field.
