CHAPMANVILLE Town of Chapmanville officials say the town now has a carnival for its annual Apple Butter Festival.

While the Apple Butter Festival in Chapmanville started Thursday evening on schedule, it did so without a carnival. Chapmanville Mayor Joel McNeely told WVOW News that no reason was given to him as to why the carnival withdrew from the event on such short notice. The carnival company Myers Amusement had begun setting up for the weekend festivities but suddenly left.

However, following an emergency town council meeting Friday morning at 9:30, Mayor McNeely now says Chapmanville has managed to secure a carnival to finish out the Apple Butter Festival.

“The council has agreed,” McNeely said Friday. “We will have a carnival. It will be here later on this evening and it’ll be up and running tomorrow morning beginning by 11:00am to 11:00pm. We have a carnival.”

The town is working with the company Shady Oaks Amusement to have the event set up for the final day of the festival.

The annual Apple Butter Festival continues Friday from 5:00pm to 11:00pm. Saturday’s activities start at 11:00 in the morning and the festival comes to an end at 11:00 Saturday night.
