Two killed, one airlifted following head on crash on Route 16 in Crown

CROWN Two people were killed and another airlifted in a late night auto accident in Logan County on Sunday evening.


The crash happened around 9:15 p.m. on WV Route 16 along Buffalo Creek Road in Crown, according to a press release from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.


Deputy T.C. Johnson, of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, was in route to the crash site when he was informed that a fatality had occurred.


When Johnson arrived on the scene, he observed a westbound vehicle, driven by Thomas Donnelly, 31, of Accoville, had collided head on with an eastbound vehicle driven by Marlene Evans, 63, of Lorado.


The cause of the accident is pending and still under investigation by the LCSD, however, initial reports indicate that Donnelly crossed the center line.


Evans was pronounced dead at the scene. Donnelly was transported to Logan Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident.


A passenger in Evans vehicle, Amie Copley, was airlifted to Cabell Huntington Hospital. Her condition has not been released.
