WAYNE The Wayne County Board of Education approved the project during its meeting Tuesday.

School officials said the funding will pay for security window film designed to strengthen glass and make it harder to break.

Wayne County Schools Safety and Security Director Mike Hart said the goal is to improve building safety for students, staff, and visitors.

Officials said the project will be completed in phases. The first phase will cost about $24,000 and focus on locations identified as the most critical during a previous safety assessment.

Additional phases will address other areas based on priority. Installation is expected to begin soon, with the project scheduled for completion by summer.
