Wildcat golf tops Roane County on tie-breaker

SPENCER Using a fourth-hole tiebreaker, the Logan High School golf team earned a quad win over Roane County, Williamstown and Sissonville Thursday evening at the Roane County Country Club.


Logan and Roane County each fired a nine-hole team total of 193, but the Wildcats earned the win with Chase Butcher’s birdie on the fourth hole.


It was the second consecutive match win for Logan, who picked up a quad match victory Tuesday afternoon over Tug Valley, Belfry and the West Logan Christian Academy.


Sissonville finished third with a 201 and Williamstown carded a 204 to finish fourth.


Ten golfers finished within five shots of the lead led by Roane County teammates Carder Kinder and Erik Stracher, who fired a 44 and 46 respectively to finish first and second.


Sissonville’s Gavin Atkins was third with a 47 while four golfers tied for fourth with a round of 48.


Included in that foursome were Logan golfers Kevin Farmer, Landon Hall and Adex Martin, who carded a 48 to lead the Wildcats and they were joined by Williamstown’s Brayden Strcula.

Logan’s Butcher and Alton Ellis as well as Sissonville’s Colton Hamrick tied for eighth after a nine-hole round of 48.


Carson Hale also competed for Logan, finishing 20th after carding a 56.


Logan will compete in a quad match against Sherman, Sissonville and the Chapmanville JV squad Monday afternoon at the Logan Country Club.
