Wildcats back in win column, sweep season series from Skyhawks

LOGAN   Lucas Lambert scored 16 points and Class AA No. 4 Logan beat regional and Boone County rival Scott 58-45 Friday night at the Willie Akers Arena.

 

Logan led by two points at the midway point of the first half but closed the half on a 14-5 run and led 33-22 at halftime.

 

Logan scored the first six points in the third quarter and led 39-22 following a pair of Ivan Miller free throws.

 

Gage Green added 10 points, McCormick Ilderton scored nine, Miller had eight and Matt Hatfield and Zayden Sherrod seven each for Logan (10-3), who entered Friday’s game having lost three of its last four games.

 

Colin Williamson scored 15 points to lead Scott (6-7). Cole Elkins added nine points for the Skyhawks.

 

Scott led 4-2 early in the first quarter before Logan scored the next five points to take a 9-4 lead. The Wildcats led 11-9 after one quarter before the Skyhawks took their final lead of the contest, 12-11, when Williamson hit the first of his three 3-pointers.

 

Logan has won four consecutive games over Scott, and remained unbeaten against Class AA Region IV competition.
