Wildcats place third at Clear Fork in tri-match, two shots behind winner Tug Valley

CLEAR FORK Logan placed third of four teams Wednesday (8/20) afternoon finishing two shots behind Tug Valley in a tri-match at the Clear Fork Country Club.
Junior Alton Ellis led the Wildcats Wednesday afternoon, carding a 42 (+7) to finish third in individual standings. Sophomore Landon Hall, playing for the first time this season, fired the Wildcats second lowest score with a 45 (+10) to finish sixth and junior Kevin Farmer shot a 46 (+11) to finish in a seventh-place tie with Tug Valley senior Jace Hale.
Logan placed third, with its top-four golfers shooting a 182 in the afternoon. Tug Valley shot a 180 and finished one shot better than Mingo Central, who carded a team score of 181, to take first place honors Wednesday. Scott finished fourth after firing a score of 203.
Mingo Central senior Devin Maynard took home medalist honors with a low round of 38 (+3), finishing one shot better than Tug Valley senior Noah Canterbury, who shot a 39 (+4).
Scott freshman Nolan Williamson was fifth after carding a 44 (+9).
Logan junior Adex Martin shot a 49 (+14) and finished tied for 12th with two other golfers and sophomore Evan Porter fired a 61 (+26) to finish 18th.
The Wildcats will return to the course Monday (8/25) afternoon when they take part in a quad match at the Logan Country Club with Chapmanville, Herbert Hoover and Sherman.
