Wildcats Win Over Lincoln Co. Panthers

In high school basketball action, the Logan Wildcats won their third game in a row to improve to 5-3 on the season, as they knocked off the undefeated Lincoln County Panthers last night 59-55 at Willie Akers Arena.

The Wildcats came out on fire building an 11 point first-half lead, and lead the entire way for two and a half quarters before the Panthers got hot from the outside and knocked down 10 three-pointers for the game to take a brief lead in the third quarter before Logan battled back to tie the game at 48-48 going into the 4th quarter.

The Wildcats smothering defense proved to be the difference in the fourth frame, as they held Lincoln County to seven points and clung to a slim three-point lead in the final seconds, and proceeded to win the game on the glass as they controlled two offensive rebounds off of missed free throws before Garrett Williamson put the game away with ten seconds left by converting a 1-and-1 to ice the game for Logan.

The Wildcats were led by junior Jarron Glick who finished with a team-high 18 points and was matched by the Panthers Jayse Tully who also closed the game with 18 points. Logan will get back into action on Thursday night when they host the Nitro Wildcats. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
