Williamson Nurse Indicted for Oct. Shooting

A Mingo County nurse, known for her treatment of COVID-19 patients during the early days of the outbreak, has been indicted for her involvement in an October shooting.


Amy Jolene Thorn, she also goes by Amy Jolene Ford, was indicted by a Mingo County grand jury for one count of malicious assault.


According to the criminal complaint, Thorn shot a woman in the abdomen on Vinson Street in Williamson.


Thorn claimed self-defense. The victim survived the shooting.


Thorn gained notoriety when she traveled to the New York “hotspot” of coronavirus infections to help patients with the virus. Moreover, she was invited to attend the Republican National Convention for her work.
