Chapmanville tops Capital

CHAPMANVILLE Gunner Lucas and Andrew Topping each drove in two runs and Jacob Vance pitched six strong innings as Chapmanville defeated Capital 8-2 on Wednesday evening at Ted Ellis Field.
Vance gave up one run on five hits, walked five and struck out five and also had an RBI double for the Tigers.
Leading 2-1 heading to the bottom of the fifth, Chapmanville (7-15) scored four runs to break open a tight contest.
Topping had a pair of sacrifice flies and Lucas was 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Eli Pridemore went 2-for-4 with one RBI and scored three runs, and Peyton Dingess was 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Cougars (8-14) starter Jalen Gaines allowed eight runs on nine hits with two strikeouts and two walks in six innings.
Luke Bibeau went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Christian Youngblood finished 2-for-3. Garnes was 1-for-3 with one RBI and Grant Barclay and Keagan Moore each had one hit.
Kaleb Burford and Brackston Kirk each had one hit for the Tigers.
Capital hosts Clay County at 7 p.m. Thursday while Chapmanville hosts senior night when they entertain Tug Valley on the same day at 7 p.m.
