CHAPMANVILLE   Junior Charity Atwood blasted a three-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give seventh-ranked Chapmanville an 8-5, extra-inning victory over fourth-ranked Lincoln County Tuesday evening at Ronnie "Mule" Ooten Field.

Abbie Jeffers hit a solo home run in the top of the eighth and Lincoln County (12-7) added another run on a Lacy Harper sacrifice fly to take a 5-3 lead.

After Brooke Christian lined out to start the bottom of the eighth for Chapmanville, the Lady Tigers loaded the bases when Chloe Murphy was hit by a pitch, Evy Altizer walked and Peyton was hit by a pitch.

Megan Brown reached on an error by the third baseman Jeffers allowing Altizer and courtesy runner Hayley Fleming to score and tie the game at 5-5.

Six pitches later, Atwood lined a full count pitch from Lincoln County's Arien Cooper over the left field fence to give Chapmanville (8-5) an 8-5 win.

The walk-off home run was Atwood's first of the season and helped Chapmanville gain a season split with Lincoln County in a battle of Class AAA ranked teams to snap a two-game losing streak.

Murphy (6-4) pitched a complete game in the circle to earn the win for the Lady Tigers. The senior tossed eight innings allowed five runs, seven hits, struck out 17 and walked three.

Cooper (10-6) took the loss for Lincoln County after allowing eight runs, five hits, five walks and two strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings.

Chapmanville got an RBI groundout from Mady Farley in the second and another RBI groundout from Altizer to take a 2-0 lead after three innings.

Keirstin Ross singled with two outs in the fifth to cut Lincoln County's deficit in half, 2-1, in the top of the fourth and Jeffers followed with a two-run single to give the Lady Panthers a 3-2 lead.

The Lady Panthers lead was short lived as Christian hit a solo home run with two outs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the score at 3-3.

Jeffers was 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs and Ross went 2-for-4 with one RBI for Lincoln County.

Atwood drove in three with her walk-off home run, Christian hit her first home run of the season and Brown drove in two runs for Chapmanville. Altizer and Farley each had one RBI and Lusk, Miller and Murphy one hit each.
