THREE MILE CURVE  The contract of a middle school teacher has been terminated following his indictment for a sexual abuse charge.

During Tuesday’s meeting of the Logan County Board of Education, former Logan Middle School teacher Curtis Collins was officially fired.

According to Superintendent Dr. Sonya White, Collins was previously put on paid administrative leave from February 19th when the accusation surfaced to March 20th. He was placed on unpaid administrative leave from March 21st until his official termination date on May 26th.

Collins was arrested, charged and subsequently indicted in the May session of the Logan County Grand Jury for sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, or person in position of trust to a child.

A criminal complaint originally filed in the Logan County Magistrate Court alleges the 44 year-old Williamson resident carried on an inappropriate relationship with a Logan High School student.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Logan County Magistrate Court, the investigation began in February after a school Prevention Resource Officer was shown a photograph allegedly depicting Collins kissing a student in the backseat of a vehicle.

If convicted, Collins faces ten to twenty years in prison.
