Abby Persinger’s layup and free throw to complete a three-point play with a 1:02 remaining gave Summers County a 45-42 lead and proved to be the game-winner as the Lady Bobcats won for the 12th time season, improving to 12-3 on the year.

The Lady Bobcats, who led by as many as 11 points in the third quarter, trailed the Lady Tigers 41-38 with 2:29 remaining.

The Lady Tigers, who trailed 36-26 after three quarters of play, outscored Summers County 15-2 to take its first lead of the contest thanks in part to 11 straight points from Alaira Evans.

Evans led the Lady Tigers with a game-high 19 points on 7 of 17 shooting from the field. Jaiden Mahon had eight points, Brooke Christian finished with seven points, Haley Fleming had six points and Daizi Farley two points to round out the scoring for Chapmanville.

Chapmanville entered the game riding a four-game winning streak and were coming off a pair of wins over Class AAA ranked schools, defeating sixth-ranked Sissonville, 42-30, on Thursday night and eighth-ranked Ripley, 51-37, last Monday.

It looked as if the Lady Tigers were on their way to a fifth straight win, but the Lady Bobcats outscored them 10-1 in the final 2:29 to rally for the win, and fall to 9-6 with the defeat.

Persinger led Summers County with 16 points, scoring seven of the Lady Bobcats final 10 points, and was joined in double figures by Grace Harvey, who finished with 15 points in the win.
