Lincoln County man accused of dog scam

LINCOLN COUNTY Lincoln County deputies said a man has been charged in a multi-state scam.


According to police, 37-year-old Brandon Steve Vance is accused of scamming at eight people out of a total of nearly $10,000. Deputies said the sheriff’s department has received numerous complaints and tips about Mr. Vance


According to a complaint in Lincoln County Magistrate Court, Vance allegedly advertised a dog for sale and then requested payment through either Paypal or Walmart Pay. Vance would allegedly deny he received a payment and requested another payment after victims sent payment.


Vance is accused of using the same scheme multiple times and never provided the dog after receiving the payments.


Charges include eight counts of fraudulent schemes, six counts of wire fraud, three counts of computer fraud and eight counts of fraud with an access device.


Deputies said the scam operation stretched to multiple states including Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia.
