Logan Reports COVID Death, 19 Deaths Confirmed Statewide Thurs.


The Logan County Health Department reported the second death this week attributed to COVID-19.


Health Department Director Steve Browning confirmed the death of a 71-year-old male due to complications from the virus. Since the onset of the outbreak, 142 Logan County residents have succumbed to coronavirus. The death is the second confirmed fatality this week. On Monday, Browning reported the death of a 79-year-old male


The 25 new infections were discovered through laboratory testing Wednesday. The new infections make 84 total cases confirmed in the last week.

Logan Conty currently has 175 active cases of coronavirus.


Nineteen people remain hospitalized.


Statewide, the Department of Health and Human Resources reports 1,182 new infections of the virus as of ten o'clock Thursday morning.


West Virginia has 8,857 active cases of COVID-19.


Nineteen additional deaths raises the Mountain State's death toll to 5,055 fatalities.


Logan remains orange on the county alert map also published daily by the state DHHR. Orange is the second most restrictive color on the map and a total of 20 counties are orange as of Thursday morning.


Twenty-five counties are red including Mingo.


Seven counties are gold and three are green.
