The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported 998 new cases of COVID-19.
As of 10 o’clock Friday morning, W.Va. currently has 25,342 active cases of coronavirus.
Since the onset of the outbreak, 1,856 West Virginians have succumbed to COVID-19. Seven people died in the last 24 hours.
Today’s daily positive infection rate is 4.93%.
According to the color-coded map released this morning by the state DHHR, 15 counties remain in the restrictive red zone. Red counties include Boone and Mingo counties.
Twenty-seven counties are orange including Logan, Lincoln, Wayne and Wyoming.
Eight counties are gold.
Four counties are yellow including McDowell.
Tucker County is still the only green county.
W.Va. has administered 146,469 doses of the first round of vaccine. As of press time, 35,991 residents have received both rounds of shots.
