Route 5 At Harts Mountain To Close For Repairs

Crews decided not to shut the road down. Motorists will be flagged through while work continues on the road. Drivers should expect long delays as the road is narrow at points and will choke off passage as work continues. Alternative routes are still encouraged.


ORIGINAL STORY:

The West Virginia Department of Highways will close County Route 5 over Harts Mountain Wednesday, March ninth beginning at 7 a.m.


The DOH will be bringing in heavy equipment for repairing the road.


Harts Mountain has many slips, slides and broken areas of the roadway.


The DOH says the road will be closed for at least 4 to 5 weeks while crews are making repairs.
