Sunday marked a somber anniversary in Logan County.

On April 11, 2020, Logan County lost its first resident to COVID-19 – 25-year-old Teddy Nelson.

Members of the community gathered to honor his memory in the parking lot of Logan High School Sunday.

Friends and family let off balloons, shared memories and planted a tree in Nelson’s honor.

At 25-years-old, Nelson is one of the youngest in W.Va. to die of complications due to COVID-19.
