CHAPMANVILLE Chapmanville outscored Wyoming East 27-6 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 67-38 victory in a battle of Class AA ranked teams Wednesday night at the Danny Godby Gymnasium.
Sal Dean scored 13 of his game-high 31 points in the fourth quarter for the fourth-ranked Tigers, who finished the regular season with an 18-3 record. With the win, the Tigers swept the season series with the eighth-ranked Warriors.
Chapmanville defeated Wyoming East, 60-47, on Jan. 31 at Wyoming East High School.
Chapmanville led by eight after three quarters but caught fire in the fourth quarter outburst connecting on 10 field goals including four 3-pointers while holding Wyoming East to two field goals in the final eight minutes.
Zion Blevins posted his second straight double-double finishing with 17 points and 13 rebounds for Chapmanville.
Garrett Mitchell and Cole Lambert combined for 29 points on 11 of 21 shooting from the field, however, the rest of the Warriors combined for just eight points on 3 of 10 shooting. Mitchell led the Warriors with 16 points on 7 of 14 shooting and Lambert finished with 13 points on 4 of 7 shooting. Jackson Danielson finished with six points and 11 rebounds.
Wyoming East finished the regular season with a record of 14-8 and will face county rival Westside in the opening round of the Class AA Region 3 Section 1 tournament at the Brushfork Armory on March 1.
Chapmanville will host the Mingo Central/Liberty (Raleigh) winner on March 3 at the Danny Godby Gymnasium in the Class AA Region 3 Section 2 championship.
