Tigers plate 15 runs, pick up first win of season, defeat Dots 15-6

CHAPMANVILLE   Chapmanville secured it first win of the season Wednesday evening defeating Poca 15-6 at Ted Ellis Field.


Andrew Topping had four hits, scored four runs and drove in two for the Tigers, who snapped a five-game losing streak.


Joey Canterbury labored through 3 2/3 innings to earn his first win of the season. Canterbury allowed five runs (four earned) on four hits, struck out three and walked five.


The Tigers scored three runs in the first, one in the second and two in the third to jump out to a 6-0 lead before Poca plated five runs in the fourth to trim the deficit to 6-5.


Chapmanville answered with a five spot of its own in the bottom of the fourth and scored twice more in the fifth to take a 13-5 lead.


Nathan Christian had three hits and one RBI and Preston Bonnett had two hits and drove in two runs for Poca.


Carson Jones allowed six runs on eight hits in three innings of work. He struck out three, walked two and hit one batter and was tagged with the loss.


Gunner Lucas had two hits and drove in two runs and Canterbury helped his own cause with one hit and two RBIs. Andrew Farley had two hits and scored two runs while AJ Motto had one hit and crossed the plate three times and Braylon Moore had one hit and one RBI for Chapmanville.
