W.Va. DHHR Reported 1,400 New Cases of the Virus Friday


The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported 1,430 new cases of COVID-19.


As of 10 o’clock Friday morning, W.Va. currently has 27,016 active cases of coronavirus.


Since the onset of the outbreak, 1,733 West Virginians have succumbed to COVID-19. Thirty-one people died in the last 24 hours.


Today’s daily positive infection rate is 5.17%.


According to the color-coded map released this morning by the state DHHR, 33 counties are in the restrictive red zone.


Sixteen counties are orange including Logan and Wyoming.


Five counties are gold including McDowell.


Clay County is the only yellow county.


W.Va. has administered 117,246 doses of the first round of vaccine. As of press time, 21,599 residents have received both rounds of shots.
