W.Va. Nears 5,000 Active Cases of COVID-19

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported 524 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 24-hours.


As of 10 o’clock Friday morning, West Virginia has 4,987 active cases of coronavirus.


Since the onset of the outbreak, 451 West Virginians have succumbed to the virus. Eight deaths have been reported in the last 24-hours.


Today’s daily positive infection rate is 3.77%.


According to the state DHHR color-coded map released Friday morning, Mingo County is in the “red” category. “Red” is the most restrictive category.


Wayne and Wyoming counties are in the orange.


Boone and Logan counties are gold.


Lincoln County is Yellow.


McDowell County is green.
