W.Va. Total Cases Surpass 22,000


The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reported 1,266 new cases of COVID-19.


As of 10 o’clock Friday morning, West Virginia has 22,028 active cases of coronavirus.


Since the onset of the outbreak, 1,091 West Virginians have succumbed to the COVID-19. Twenty people died in the last 24 hours.


West Virginia has 69,751 cumulative cases of the virus.


Today’s daily positive infection rate is 7.28%.


According to the color-coded map released by the WV DHHR this morning, numerous coalfields counties are in the restrictive red category. Boone, Lincoln, Mingo and Wayne counties are all in the red zone.


Statewide, there are 24 red zone counties.


Logan and Wyoming counties are orange.


McDowell County is the only green county.
