PARKERSBURG The West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission announced the high school football pairings for West Virginia on Sunday.

For the first time in Logan County history three Logan County schools, Chapmanville, Logan and Man, made the playoff field.

Man (7-3), ranked 12th in the final Class A playoff ratings, clinched a spot in the field of 16 with its win over Tug Valley two weeks ago.

The Hillbillies will face Class A No. 5 Wheeling Central (8-1) Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Bishop Schmitt Field on the campus of Wheeling University.

Chapmanville (7-3) entered its regular season finale with county rival Man ranked 12th in Class AA, but a 28-0 win over the Hillbillies moved the Tigers up to 10th in the final Class AA ratings.

The victory not only clinched the Tigers first postseason berth since 2015, but it gave them the outright Logan County Championship for the first time since 2017.

The Tigers will face Class AA No. 7 and regining champion Fairmont Senior (7-3) Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at East-West Stadium.

Logan (6-4) is ranked 16th in the Class AA field. The Wildcats, despite a loss to Herbert Hoover, secured the final playoff spot after Class AA No. 17 Point Pleasant and No. 18 Keyser lost their respective regular season finales allowing the Wildcats to qualify for the postseason for the first time in nine years.

The Wildcats will face a familiar foe when they travel to Winfield to take on the top-ranked Generals (9-1) Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.

Winfield, winners of nine straight, defeated Logan 29-7 at Winfield on Sept. 23.
